What is FFP?

FFP (Fleet Failure Predictor) is fleet operations software for South African trucking and logistics companies. It has two parts: a web dashboard where owners and managers run the fleet, and an Android app for drivers, dispatchers, mechanics and support crews.

A trip created in the office shows up on the driver's phone as a step-by-step route, and the truck moves on a live map while the driver works through it. When a truck breaks down, a dispatcher assigns a mechanic from their phone and everyone watches the job go from accepted to fixed.

Costs, damage and paperwork all land in the same place, so the owner can see what each truck earns and what it costs to keep on the road.

The Two Parts

Web Dashboard

The owner's control room. It opens on a fleet overview that lists only what needs action today: overdue services, completed trips with no POD, open damage, documents about to lapse. Drivers are blocked from the web app by design. It is for owners and managers.

Key capabilities:

• Fleet overview: active trips, fleet health, open breakdowns, compliance alerts, fleet cost and missing documents on one screen, plus a live trip board.
• Live map: every truck on an active trip, with driver, speed and time of last update. Trucks show as live, delayed or offline.
• Fleet register: trucks, trailers, support vehicles and buses. Each truck has odometer, service and damage history, a damage score out of 100, and its own profit figure and monthly finance chart.
• Trip builder: assign truck, trailer and driver, build a four-step route, and set the client, deadline and expected revenue.
• Breakdowns: log incidents against any vehicle, track them from reported to completed, and link supplier invoices and repair costs.
• Compliance: 10 document types, including licence discs, roadworthy certificates, operator cards, PrDP and cross-border permits. Each one records cost and payment status and is flagged before it expires.
• Monthly reports: revenue, fuel, maintenance, damage, breakdowns and profit per truck and per month, with PDF export.
• Toll fees and abnormal loads: record SANRAL toll costs per vehicle, and plan oversized moves with permit, escort and route survey costs.

Mobile App (Android)

Built in Flutter. Each person signs in and gets the screens for their role.

Drivers get their trip as a guided checklist: start, collect the trailer, confirm the load, depart, arrive, upload the POD, capture the closing odometer. Every stop has Waze and Google Maps buttons and a countdown to the deadline. From the home screen they can photograph damage, photograph fuel slips and log odometer readings against their assigned truck.

Dispatchers create and edit trips, assign drivers, trucks and trailers, cancel trips with a recorded reason, and assign mechanics to breakdowns with a callout priority. They see the live map too.

Mechanics and support crews receive assigned callouts with the breakdown location, photo and the driver's number. They move the job through accepted, en route, arrived, need parts, escalated and fixed, and keep a message log on it. While they travel, their response vehicle's GPS is tracked.

Owners and managers can add staff, add and retire vehicles, review damage history and keep an eye on operations from their phone when they are away from a desk.

Everyone gets push notifications for what concerns them: new trips, status changes, breakdown assignments.

Built for SA Roads

FFP is built specifically for the South African market.

Tracking that copes with bad signal. Once a driver starts a trip, the app reports the truck's position in the background. If the phone loses signal, GPS points are kept on the device and uploaded when it reconnects, so the route on the map has no gaps.

ZAR-native. All revenue, costs and reports are in South African Rand. Toll recording is built around SANRAL accounts. Compliance covers PrDP/PDP, operator cards and roadworthy certificates, the documents SA fleet operators actually deal with.

Compliance that keeps you legal. The compliance module tracks 10 document types across your fleet and driver roster. Documents that are about to expire are flagged on the dashboard before they lapse, and each driver's licence and PrDP expiry dates are kept on their staff record.

How the Lease Works

Rather than a once-off purchase, you lease access to FFP on a monthly or annual basis. Echo Software handles all hosting, maintenance, security, and updates. You focus on running your fleet.
